In depth
Verdict
Aodhan May showed her liking for a thorough stamina test when scoring on heavy ground at Wexford but was engaged in the 6.45 at Tramore yesterday. Mahler Appeal, a winner between the flags, has been very consistent over hurdles and fences and looks certain to win soon while Eddies Pride landed a Fairyhouse handicap in November and might just have needed the run when second at Clonmel earlier this month. Positive Thinker has been a beaten favourite in his last four starts over hurdles and makes his debut over fences. He could be well handicapped but Goodnightngodbless has now had 25 starts over the bigger obstacles without winning. The lightly-raced former hunter BALDUR'S GATE will appreciate stepping up to this trip on soft ground and gets the nod in a tricky handicap.
