In depth
Verdict
Toon Trooper can be the first of two winners on the Towcester card for trainer Jonjo O'Neill, his main dangers looking to be Finzi, Teorban and Kepi de Kerfellec. The selection came good at the third time of asking at Warwick last time out, the key to his success being a god test at round three miles. He'll have those conditions again today and can score before probably embarking upon a chasing career. Early Edition won a hurdle during the summer but has regressed since and now steps up in trip again. Finzi showed his first form when third over three and a quarter miles at Huntingdon last time and could progress again on what will be only his fifth race. Galwaybay Stan has a similar profile although an amateur rider now replaces Tony McCoy from his last run, which was far and away his best to date. Kepi de Kerfellec won an apprentice race on the Flat over just short of two miles before joining Micky Hammond, so he too has to be given plenty of respect in this contest. Mark Pitman runs the Polish-bred British Flat winner Teorban, whose third to Tidjani last time out certainly gives him place prospects in this event that will require plenty of stamina from the successful entry. It is hard to enthuse too much about the chances of the others and, for us, Toon Trooper fits the bill best of all and gets the vote.
