In depth

Verdict

Lucky Luk had to work hard to get the better of the in-form Arceye here last month and Kim Bailey's gelding may struggle to follow up off an 8lb higher mark today and a better bet looks to be Coolers Quest, who gets the vote with The Laying Hen rated the pick of the remainder. The selection lost no caste in defeat when chasing home Gunnabelil at Newton Abbot on her reappearance over hurdles earlier this month, will not be inconvenienced by the return to fences and looks worth a wager for this contest. Jim Bobs Girl has been running consistently well of late and has to be respected but she may be a shade high in the weights, while Mr Ironman is hard to recommend on recent evidence. Earcomesannie ran better at Plumpton last time when 7lbs out of the handicap and has to be respected off her proper mark today but a bigger threat is likely to come from The Laying Hen, who has shown gradual improvement of late. Coolers Quest has solid claims though and the Alner's runner is taken to resume winning ways here.
