In depth

Verdict

This is for horses who have never won over fences or hurdles though there are several winning point-to-pointers in the line-up and BAL DE RIO has won four times on the Flat. Denis Hogan's charge has been placed in 12 of his 15 starts over timber so deserves a chance of fortune and the conditions should play to his strengths. The Echo Boy has won twice between the flags and his close second to Jack Hackett over fences at Kilbeggan represents strong form in the context of this race though some rain would aid his cause. Champagne Beauty wasn't far behind in that latter event while Ran Rite won one point-to-point from seven starts and didn't run badly on his chasing bow here in July.
