In depth

Verdict

Royal Rationale, Hadaaf and Pterodactyl are the three that make the shortlist here, with Royal Rationale set to continue his winning form. Hadaaf has a penalty to carry after a Plumpton win in a soft race. That win came on an easy surface, and on quicker ground here he is taken on. French Flat winner Pterodactyl was given too much to do at Towcester last time and looks a winner waiting to happen. He has shaped well in his three starts to date and is likely to go close. After a series of solid runs, Royal Rationale justified favouritism in fine style at Chepstow. He is a very consistent type and Royal Rationale will act on this quick surface and can take the opener.
