Verdict
Just an ordinary contest with the top-weight Sir Cumference rated just 93 and although he is sure to be a popular choice, given his connections, we prefer the claims of Peacemaker, who receives plenty of weight off the likely favourite. John Cornwall's gelding, although getting no younger, is still capable of some fair form as he showed when handing out a sound beating to Flora Muck at Towcester last month. He followed that effort with a sound enough run behind Tirley Storm, over what looked to be an insufficient test at Fakenham. Dropped 1lb for that is certainly a bonus and back over a more suitable trip here, looks the one to be with. The lightly-raced Sir Cumference will need to put behind him a poor effort at Bangor, having gone off as favourite, but his yard wasn't really firing then, but they do seem in much better form now having had three winners and five placed horses from their last 13 runners. Having lost his way over fences in Ireland, it would not come as the biggest surprise to see Monbonami bounce back to something like at this level. He ran well for a long way in a hurdle at Stratford recently and should be cherry ripe now, but Peacemaker looks pretty straightforward and will find this trip more suitable than when beaten at Fakenham.
