Verdict
A weak maiden in which 104-rated Doe Nal Rua is taken to maintain Tim Easterby's great record at the track. Unquestionably, there is the niggling doubt about the ability to handle the ground as we are yet to see him in public on this surface but he would not have to run up to top form to land this prize. Peter Beaumont's team are always worth a look and he sends out Jodante. The Trevor Hemmings owned gelding has bits and pieces of form but does not do things particularly quickly. He may be seen to better effect over further. Paphian Boy made his debut in a Grade 2 National Hunt Flat race behind Cornish Rebel. The Murphy yard is flying and it would be no surprise to see substantial improvement this season. Colonnade was a moderate maiden on the flat for David Nicholls and should be capable of staying this far on her hurdling bow for Chris Grant. John Charlton and Bruce Gibson have teamed up in the past to pull off some mighty gambles at Wetherby and the market is consulted with regard to the trainer's confidence in Sea Knight. Coachman has showed little in bumpers but the breeding suggests that he'll appreciate this trip. We stick with Doe Nal Rua as our selection in the first race.
