Verdict
Barton May can defy topweight in the finale ahead of Beefy Nova, Harem Scarem and Advance East. Barton May looks a mare to follow after her impressive success over fences at Folkestone last month. Paul Keane's five-year-old jumped well at the Kent track which was encouraging to see after her unlucky exit on her chase debut at Fontwell the time before. The form of her win does not appear too bad either given the subsequent decent effort of runner-up Harry Collins, and she should go on to better things. Beefy Nova is far more experienced over the bigger obstacles but is also much more exposed. However, the one-time Nigel Twiston Davies inmate has recent winning form, and the veteran will be a danger off his low weight. Harem Scarem likes to force the issue but is a bit one-paced, and Advance East is out of the handicap. The one with by far the most scope is Barton May who can keep up the stable's good strike-rate at the Staffordshire track.
