In depth
Verdict
Alan King's Doce Vida is still relatively unexposed over hurdles and is taken to follow up his recent course and distance success at the main expense of Wayward Melody and Mister Moussac. The last mentioned is on a hat-trick following wins at Worcester and Hexham recently but this looks tougher and a bigger threat is likely to come from Wayward Melody. Gary Moore's gelding has been raised 6lbs for his win at Fontwell last time but that looks fair and he has to be respected. Martin Pipe's Forbearing showed improved form here over two miles last time but may not be suited by the longer trip today and of more interest may be Towcester winner Rookery Lad. The consistent Comfortable Call, Cedar Master, for who Mick Fitzgerald has been booked and Jonjo O'Neill's Dancer Life are others worthy of a mention in a competitive heat but the vote goes to Doce Vida. Alan King's mare showed improved form for being stepped up to this trip here last time, staying on strongly to beat stablemate King Of Barbury by three-and-a-half lengths. A 7lb rise since then may not stop her from following up.
