Verdict
These Pertemps qualifiers can be a bit of a lottery. Sire Du Berlais won the series final in 2020 and is only 2lb higher. Ronald Pump also travels over from Ireland but Gordon Elliott’s Level Neverending has more scope having a first run in handicap company. ASHTOWN LAD (NAP) won the Becher Chase at Aintree last month off a 3lb higher mark. He’d finished a close-up third behind a subsequent winner over hurdles at Newbury earlier and Harry Skelton can plot a course to another victory in this even though Glimpse Of Gala wasn’t winning out of turn at Kempton last month and The Bomber Liston ran well at the same meeting when possibly finding 2m5f an insufficient test of stamina.
