In depth
Verdict
Ian Williams has his string in fine form and Damus, who could never land a blow behind the useful Running Man at Kempton last time, is taken to land his fifth race over fences. Carrick Troop needs softer ground to show his best, while a similar comment also applies to Monarch's Pursuit. Super Nomad, who normally races with his tongue tied down, hasn't had the aid declared here, so it may be left to Jarro to chase the selection home. Venetia Williams' charge held an entry in last years Arkle, but he fell below expectations. He starts this term at a reasonable mark and whatever his fate today, he could be one to follow.
