In depth

Verdict

BEL HUGO is an intresting participant and we think he can take the measure of Barron Watlass and Final Veto. James Ewart has a number of entries on the card and this could be the pick. The handicapper has alloted a mark of 105 after three runs and on the evidence of his most recent run, the drop back to 2m6f could well prove to be in his favour. Barron Watlass seems to appreciate a soft surface so on the form of his handicap debut at Sedgefield, he has to be given a fair shout. Final Veto was well held at Kelso last time out though that effort obtained on a much faster surface than what we have today. Young Buddy looks a stayer and while modest, his yard's form is certainly anything but at present. Golden Globe is a previous winner under testing conditions and Graham Lee replaces a conditional rider in the saddle. Steveys Lad seems to get on well with James Reveley and off a light weight, the partnership have to be given a definite chance of reaching the places. Euro American has won off a mark of 126 over chase fences though has struggled to follow up that success. A competitive enough contest and we take a chance that the lightly raced Bel Hugo has been underestimated by the handicapper.
