Verdict

Sir Storm may have the measure of fellow joint topweight Log On Intersky, with Noshinannikin and Spectrometer likely to make their presence felt in the day's feature race at the Yorkshire track. Sir Storm and Log On Intersky clashed at Ayr last November, with the latter coming out on top to the tune of seven lengths, but that was over two miles. Sir Storm gives the impression that he is more likely to stay today's extra trip, and he lines up fresh after a summer break. The form of his latest victory over Stamparland Hill has been franked recently, and he gets the vote. Noshinannikin gained his first success for 17 months when scoring over hurdles at Uttoxeter recently and may go well back over fences with that confidence-booster behind him, while Spectrometer seems a better horse when allowed to make the running, so any confidence in him will diminish if he is held up as he was at Market Rasen last time. Divet Hill is another that likes to force the pace, and the 2003 Aintree Foxhunter hero will come on for this, his first run since June. An interesting contest then, with Sir Storm preferred.
