In depth

Verdict

There won't be many better handicap chases than this through the summer jumps season. Topweight Galapiat Du Mesnil was impressive at Chepstow recently and has A P McCoy to guide him round so must be respected along with Paperising who dotted up at Perth a couple of weeks ago. Paperising is on the top of his game and is sure to command support but the vote goes narrowly to veteran Macgeorge who retains his ability and enthusiasm remarkably well. Richard Lee's grand campaigner has had a break since a good third at Aintree and if on song could well take the beating. Goguenard found only one too good at Worcester recently and represents Nicky Henderson, whilst Joint Account impressed here when winning stylishly a month ago. Ardent Scout is out of the handicap but cannot be totally ruled out hailing from a stable in fine firm at present.
