In depth
Verdict
Deep Water is back over his ideal trip and he can take the measure of Man Murphy and Gatorade. Micky Hammond has been particularly patient with this horse and having shown an indication of his well-being when chasing home The Nomad over course-and-distance, with the ground likely to suit, we believe that he can roll back the years to take our fifth race. Man Murphy will prove difficult to see off if he is there at the finish. A tricky customer at the best of times, he looks rejuvenated by a switch of trainer and he certainly lost little caste in defeat to Sound Of Cheers at Newcastle last week. Gatorade is rarely far away in these races although he is possibly better over further. Latensaani knows his way round Wetherby having scored here when under George Moore's patronage. He has shown little for Sue Smith but the trainers' record in returning others' cast-offs to their former glory speaks for itself.King's Bounty is a quality three-miler on soft going. There is every chance he may just need this as a pipe-opener. The market is watched with regard to Tacolino. Owen Brennan's horses are always worth following when the money is down and this front-runner could well be dangerous provided that the going does not depreciate too much. A tricky affair with many possibles on the book but it is to Deep Water that we turn on this occasion.
