In depth

Verdict

Alayir stepped up to 1m3f for the first time at Dundalk where he looked the winner inside the final before headed by Smartcity. He's become expensive to follow and will be fancied to recoup losses but may have to play second fiddle again, this time to QUAINTLY. David Wachman's Giant's Causeway filly had shown plenty of promise as a juvenile before reappearing over 1m1f at Tipperary where she was going on nicely at the finish, suggesting this will be her trip in her second season. Noble Call can probably do better than he showed at Tipperary last time as he didn't enjoy the soft conditions and is better judged on his close second to Eskimo on fast ground last May. Glendaragh is taking a massive step-up in trip having only raced over 6f and 7f so far.
