Verdict

A disappointing turnout for this mares contest and ROMPING HOME can hopefully do just that and turnover what are likely to be the stronger fancied pair of Lamanver Homerun and Katess. Strictly on the figures Donald McCain's mare does have quite a bit to find on the previously mentioned two but there was lots of encouragement to be sought from her last effort in what was a decent novice chase by Bangor's standards last time. Considering it was her chasing debut she jumped very well in the main but could never get on terms with Or Blue, who brought smart early season novice form into the race. The front drew clear of the strongly fancied Pair Carrick Oscar, a very smart hurdler and Coq Hardi who could also be mentioned as a very capable handicap hurdler. Chasing could well turn out to be Romping Home's game. While both her wins have come on good ground, heavy ground at Bangor did not seem to inconvience her. Chasing debutant Lamanver Homerun travelled very well but was outpointed by a well handicapped and strongly fancied rival in Amber Brook. She is a decent sort who is bound to be well schooled and this small field is ideal for her commencing her chasing career. Katess has proved herself capable in both bumper and novice hurdle company. She disposed of a smart mare Aimigayle easily last time. These three mares are very closely matched and Romping Home could well surprise a few and win this.
