The best race on the card by a mile this, and Mike De Kock's UK debutant JJ THE JET PLANE is selected, ahead of Edge Closer and Sohraab. Last time we saw JJ The Jet Plane he scooted home in a group 3 contest in Dubai on good ground after disappointing on the dirt there. Last year he won all four of his races back in South Africa, including three graded contests, and he's got some fancy entries here for later in the summer. He sets a decent standard, and although giving weight away all round, he's well ahead on official ratings. The trainer's official description of him is "seriously fast"! Sohraab has the benefit of a good draw, but this is a step up in class for him. All bar one of his five career wins have been over the minimum trip, but the way he won last time out in a good Chester handicap suggests the step up isn't an inconvenience. He looks the pick of the in-form yard's two runners, with Intrepid Jack their other in the race. Edge Closer hasn't had a great year; last time out he was tailed off last in the Duke of York but although he won two listed races last year, he hasn't improved as hoped over the winter. A number of these are set for Royal Ascot and it looks an intriguing contest, in which we'll support the speed merchant JJ The Jet Plane.
