In depth

Verdict

A very competitive sprint with all having won over the trip at some stage. Half of the 12-strong field are previous winners here but Chester fourth Spring Loaded has done most of his winning on the all-weather. Udontdodou couldn’t cope off his new mark at York but Ice Age is in good form and has to go on the short-list having only found one too good last time at Newbury. However, he only beat PIXELEEN by a neck here last summer and Malcolm Saunders’ mare is 6lb better off. She can also reverse subsequent Chepstow running with Little Palaver on better terms having appeared to run very well in a Listed race at Nottingham on her latest start. Charles Molson is also worth a second look along with the returning Summer Chorus.
