        Verdict

        Hexameter improved on her first run when third at Goodwood but that form has yet to be franked. Storm Castle will need to progress from last year’s two runs while the step up in distance is not certain to suit Smart Contender. TATHBEET ran green at Leicester three weeks ago but was getting the hang of things in the closing stages without coming under maximum pressure. He’ll be more the finished article here and looks the one to beat, though Ralph Beckett has his string firing on all cylinders and the Nathaniel filly Oriole, a half-sister to the stable’s Bullace, is worth a market check.
