Verdict

Honest Injun gets the call over the returning Rondelet, Florida Heart, The Way We Were and Desert Diplomat. Barry Hills has made a fine start to the Turf season already as witnessed at Newmarket last week, and with the stable in such great form, Honest Injun can carry on the good work. Related to Apache on the dam's side, the Guy Reed-owned colt was made to work hard when making a winning appearance at Wolverhampton in January but as that was his first outing since November, it was still a fair effort. He has a lot more to do here, but has been galloping well of late on the Faringdon Road and will not go down without a fight. Rondelet could turn into a useful handicapper based on his efforts last season but is worth taking on and Florida Heart makes just as much appeal. Andrew Balding's filly won a lot of supporters with the manner of her smooth nursery victory at Ayr last September and if anywhere near fit, she can go close. The Way We Were was described as a big, scopey sort when opening her account at Lingfield where she seemed to be not entirely at home on the Polytrack. She is another one to note for the future along with Desert Diplomat who was very disappointing in his first season and can only get better now that he is put into handicap-company. Honest Injun has already proved himself and is the pick under Eddie Ahern.
