Verdict
DEAR MAURICE is a proven horse at the track and if the first-time visor has the desired effect then he must go close; It's Josr and Foxtrot Charlie join Gold Express on the shortlist of dangers. The selection has top-weight to carry here but from a handicapping point of view he doesn't look badly-treated, racing off 75 which is 3lb lower than his win here back in 2008. It seems like this is his time of year, he should appreciate the drop in class, and with Jimmy Fortune a positive jockey booking, he should run a big race. It's Josr returns from a 293 day break and needs watching in the betting as he doesn't look badly treated, a comment that also applies to Wunder Strike despite being 6lb higher than his win at Leicester. Binnion Bay is consistent enough at a lowly level but is hard to win with, Tara's Garden tries the blinkers today, whilst Gold Express might find this tougher than his solid Kempton win last time and his strike-rate on the turf is poor. Hawaana is held by him on that run but is starting to look dangerously well-handicapped, whilst Striding Edge and Wilbury Star represent some trainers in good form at the moment. An open race then, but we will plump for Dear Maurice.
