A poor looking maiden this, with all bar Sula Dream having raced before, and none have a great deal of appeal, but BOMBER BROWN has shown some ability, and carries our tentative support. Also on the shortlist are Red Oriental and Espero. Peter Chapple-Hyam's got a good strike rate here, and Bomber Brown's best effort to date came here last time out a few weeks back when narrowly beaten over a mile and a quarter. He attempted to make all, but was nabbed late on, so the slight drop in trip is taken to be a positive. A repeat of that run could be enough. The French bred Red Oriental is having her debut run in this country, after being bought for 32,000 Guineas earlier in the month. She's been well held on her five runs back in France. Espero was a cheap purchase following a couple of poor runs in Ireland but showed great improvement on debut here, narrowly losing a similar race at Haydock. That was on good ground though, so the rain may be against him. Wearing a visor has brought improvement about for Miss Sophisticat in her last couple of runs, and further progress could see her land the spoils. The one debutante, Sula Dream, could be absolutely anything, and as with any in this kind of contest, the market can guide us. However any support for our selection would be encouraging, and that's Bomber Brown.
