        Verdict

        Red Crepe holds the scope for most improvement and can make the most of her allowance over Bowing, with Pantita and Celtic Truth on the short-list for a place. Red Crepe improved markedly for her Goodwood debut when second at Brighton next time, without being knocked about. The Cheveley Park Stud will be keen for the daughter of Polish Precedent to open her account and enhance her paddock value, and a look at the opposition suggests that tonight is the time to do it. John Gosden has his team in fine form so Bowing will be no pushover, but was soundly beaten in the King George Handicap at Royal Ascot and failed abysmally on his next start at Newbury. The drop back in trip is not sure to suit, and he might just need conditions a bit easier. Pantita caught the eye when second to Henry Cecil's Dawnus at Chepstow, and as that form has been franked again by the winner, many will latch onto Rod Millman's filly who could run into a place at the very least over this longer trip. Celtic Truth could be anything, having been eased when hampered late on behind Godolphin's Tarbiyah on her Salisbury debut last month. The market may prove to be the best guide to her chance, but, with Pat Eddery on board, Red Crepe is the choice.
