In depth

Verdict

The newcomers in the second division of the maiden do not look as strong as those in the first division so we will side with the proven form of Richard Hannon's SILENT SECRET, who has shown improved form in her last two starts, and she is taken to open her account at the main expense of Spanish Acclaim and Katehari. The last mentioned represents the yard of Andrew Balding that is beginning to hit top form now so she has to be respected but does need to step up on the form of her debut effort. Flip Flop, a daughter of Footstepsinthesand making her first start, looks the pick of the two runners form the stable of Barry Hills ahead of House Red but will need to be useful to get the better of the selection. First Term looks the second best of Richard Hannon's two runners but cannot be discounted having run promisingly first time out at Goodwood. Tom Dascombe's Gold Party is an interesting newcomer but being by Bahamian Bounty he may prefer a softer surface and a bigger threat may come from Spanish Acclaim, who ran well when chasing home Russian Rock over five furlongs at Salisbury two starts ago before unseating his rider soon after the start at Bath last time. Assuming that a similar occurrence does not happen today, he has solid claims but Silent Secret has an obvious chance and he gets the vote.
