Verdict
Officer gets the vote over Marieschi, with Sonning Star and Hibiki worth a mention. Officer has been campaigned over 10-furlongs on each of his four starts to date, but on breeding will be suited by this drop back in trip. He is no good thing on the evidence so far, but can at least make experience count, and gets the vote to open his account with the visor on again. He will also appreciate being back among the maidens after his luckless effort on what was his handicap debut at Sandown 11-days ago when he took a bump off a rival as he was eased out to challenge. Marieschi was well beaten at Sandown last time, and may well improve on better ground, while Sonning Star has lacked a turn of foot on all five outings to date, and is worth a try over further surely. Hibiki, a son of Montjeu, will definitely get better in time and over a longer trip, and on this occasion, without being too confident, we are happy to rely on Officer.
