In depth
Verdict
Stoneacre Boy, Gilded Cove and Portmeirion are three against the field in this handicap and the vote is given to Stoneacre Boy. The selection was outclassed last time out but returns to his proper garde here and from a good draw he looks the value bet in an open affair. Gilded Cove rates the main danger on his latest sixth behind Prince Cyrano but he is becoming hard to win with. Portmeirion ran as if in need of the race on his first ruin of the season, and is sure to strip fitter here and as he hails from a very shrewd yard he should be closely watched in the market. Of the remainder Bessemer is another from a yard in form but will need to improve on his latest efforts if he is to trouble the principals but he may do so in a first time visor but for the winner we are happy to return to Stoneacre Boy.
