In depth

Verdict

Split Briefs may be a short price but is hard to oppose, with Le Singe Noir and Auntie Mame the ones to give her most to do. Split Briefs had shown promise as a juvenile, but failed to build on that in three outings this term. Then she turned up in a Lingfield claimer 16-days ago, and improved out of all recognition to chase home Hessian. She made plenty of ground up from the back that day, finishing with a flourish, and as this maiden does not look any better, she is taken to come good. Le Singe Noir has a number of placed efforts to his name on the all-weather, and although beatable, should be there or thereabouts again, while of the remainder, Auntie Mame, fourth at Lingfield to the odds-on Esteem Machine, in a race that has thrown up subsequent winner Demolition, has to be worth a mention at least. The rest are not, and with Seb Sanders in the saddle to ensure strong assistance, we return to Split Briefs as the answer to the finale.
