Verdict

QUARANTE DEUX is selected here ahead of Bavarian Nordic and Reality Show in a compeititve handicap. Gerard Butler's gelding lost little caste in defeat when third to Speed Dating at Kempton and he looks capable of winning off this mark of 75. Tom Queally looks an interesting jockey booking and this course winner looks well-drawn for a good run. Bivouac has had a successful year so far but Alan Swinbank's gelding needs to prove himself away from Southwell, Red Kestrel was a well-held third at York last time but the booking of Jimmy Fortune is eye-catching, whilst Kansai Spirit should come on for his reppearance at Haydock and the handicapper is giving him a chance. Bavarian Nordic has shaped with more promise of late but his mark on the all-weather looks a tad higher, Starkat is unexposed and the filly shaped with promise last time out, whilst My Mate Mal is a strong stayer who looks likely to try and make this a true test. Morbick needs a market check, Wulfrida is intriguing with the hood on for the first time, whilst Reality Show is unexposed and doesn't look harshly-treated on this first start in handicap grade. An open heat again, where the nod is given to Quarante Deux.
