Verdict

BATTLE HONOUR showed enough last time to suggest that he can build on that to win today, with Miss Antonia a threat and White Devil another to consider. The Henry Candy-trained selection was not far away when stepped up to a mile at Newmarket and tries the Polytrack for the first time in public. There is no reason why he won't act on it and we want to side with his improving profile. Miss Antonia has already had four runs, three last season and what appeared more of a pipe-opener at Nottingham in May. She should come on for that and she is not ruled out today with the yard in-form. White Devil almost got off the mark in a Kempton handicap last month and so is proven on the surface and over the trip. Good yardstick though he is, it will be a bit of a surprise if he proves up to winning here. This is more competitive than the Redcar maiden in which Fourth Generation finished runner-up, but with improvement to come he could stake a claim, although Battle Honour gets the vote.
