In depth
Verdict
Silkie Smooth can open her account, with Herotozero, Penny Post and Kilcusnin Queen seen as the main dangers. Barry Hills is probably a bit disappointed that Silkie Smooth has not opened her account yet, as the daughter of Barathea showed abundant promise in maiden company this summer. Unplaced in decent nurseries at York and Newmarket, and more recently at Windsor over the weekend, she can make the most of the switch back to this level. The Irish raider Herotozero is lightly raced and in fact is having his second attempt over the course-and-distance, having finished runner-up in a similar contest last month. There should be improvement to come, but he should not beat the selection. The other Irish runner Kilcusnin Queen did well to finish second at Nottingham last time, as she got rid of John Egan on the way down to the start, so she has to be worth a mention at least, while Penny Post, like most of Mark Johnston's, will no doubt have thrived since her debut. Silkie Smooth can make the most of this quick reappearance to score.
