Verdict
Roman Maze will have his supporters after a comfortable success here over six furlongs last time out, but we will oppose him with Rafferty, who went well over a mile last time and can defy topweight. The selection is dropped in class from a C1 handicap at Southwell, where he looked the winner a furlong out only to be collared by Creskeld in the closing stages. He has won over course distance in 2003, and this may be the time to catch him at it again. Roman Maze steps up from six furlongs to seven, but that extra 220 yards has been beyond him on his last 12 attempts and although he has won over c&d it was in a poor maiden. He did win a shade cosily last time and can be involved, but we think that he will fail to see the trip out in this sphere. Peruvian Style would prefer quicker ground to this, but course and distance scorer Atlantic Quest is still on a reasonable mark and likes it here, so he looks best of the remainder, but for the winner we will side with Rafferty.
