In depth
Verdict
Sungio may be capable of taking this despite topweight, with Spectested and Islands Farewell others to consider over this marathon trip. The selection runs off a similar mark to that which he won off over course and distance in November. He seems to prefer this surface to the polytrack and we can discount a below par effort here last time out, when he got away very slowly and was never able to get in a blow. He is better than that and can prove it here. Spectested has come back to the fibresand after a couple of hurdles efforts earlier in the autumn. The gelding is still a maiden after 14 starts, but he has shown some ability on his two latest starts here and this extra trip will probably be in his favour, with more time to get into it. He can make the frame, while Gemi Bed would have a fair bit better chance on faster ground, and Islands Farewell did not get home over 11 furlongs at Southwell last time, so having performed largely on fast ground thus far, has a fair bit to prove here. But Sungio will like conditions and a trip and can go in again.
