Sir Jasper is taken to win a tight little handicap in which Wings of Morn, Bridgewater Boys and Could She Be Magic also have claims of sorts. This is quite a hard opening race for punters to get stuck into, but Sir Jasper appears to have the best overall form and is selected to get back to winning ways after his third here last time. That was over an extended mile, a trip that seemed to tax his stamina, while the time before when dropped back to six furlongs, he was reported to have lost his action. It can therefore be assumed that seven furlongs is his best trip at present, a fact backed up by a look at his two career victories to date. On the first occasion in selling company at Southwell, Milton Harris's charge beat Wings of Morn by a short-head, but is now nearly a stone better off at the weights, so should again come out on top of Paul Blockley's runner. Could She Be Magic beat all bar Yankeedoodledandy over a mile last time and is another who is best at seven furlongs at present. She can give the selection most to do, along with Bridgewater Boys who has a little bit more to do than when opening his account over the course and distance a fortnight ago with Sable 'n' Silk behind, while Pick of The Crop only won a moderate maiden last time, and for the winner we return to Sir Jasper.
