    Verdict

A trappy looking maiden with plenty of the 12 runners holding claims including Scarlett Rose, Dumnoni and Redbank but the vote goes to all-weather debutante Titus Salt. The selection showed improved form for the step up to a mile at Redcar last month, having been well held over the minimum trip on his debut, and should not be inconvenienced by the drop to seven furlongs. Trainer David Barron has an excellent record with his runners on sand and, in a weak race, he may be good enough. Scarlett Rose has shown signs of ability in two starts in Newmarket maidens and has to be respected on her first start on sand, while Dumnoni has shown that she handles the Polytrack at Lingfield but has yet to race on the Fibresand. She has just 2lbs in hand over Redbank on official BHB ratings but Neville Callaghan's colt is more exposed than most. Jamie Osborne's Angelo's Pride is probably better than he showed on his debut here over six furlongs and may improve for the step up in trip. He rates a bigger threat than Sir Mark Prescott's Elusive Dream, who is likely to do better over middle distances, so in a poor contest we take a chance with Titus Salt.
