    Verdict

In this maiden, that doesn't exactly get the pulse racing, the vote goes to the experienced entrant JANUARY ahead of rivals Cheney Manor and newcomer Son Of My Heart. The selection races in Britain for the first time after some promising efforts in his native Ireland. He was a winner over hurdles under Ruby Walsh before switching back to the level. It took a while to find his ideal trip but it looks to be around the mile after running on to good effect at Dundalk last time. He should be able to build on that to score here. Cheney Manor drops back to his optimum trip here where he finished in second place at Windsor during the summer. His polytrack form has been ok at best but the form from his last outing stands up well with the second going on to score next time up and the winner highly regarded by connections. He will need to improve, which he is entitled to do, and comes here fresh after a month on the sidelines. It's hard to know exactly how good Son Of My Heart will be with little to guide us from the pedigree. His Sire was rated as high as 72 on turf and stayed a lot further than this and he should have given his offspring enough talent to win at this level in the future. Fantosha is the only other in the race with real claims after showing some promise.
