In depth
Verdict
A very competitive handicap, where the nomination goes to the lightly weighted Fiddlers Creek, who can again get the better of My Pension, while Red Contact and Pass The Port have a little more to offer and can go well for each-way players. A mention also has to be passed on for Silent Storm as he has taken well to the artificial surfaces and he can do his bit to make sure there is no let up in the gallop. However, he, like a few of the remainder, has a little to prove over the trip and others make slightly more appeal. Red Contact comfortably accounted for Template when they met at Southwell last month. Julian Poultan's charge is expected to confirm the form this afternoon and he is one to bear in mind if there is a solid move for him. However, Fiddlers Creek is a determined character that arrives fit and bouncing after his relatively easy success here just after Christmas. Francis Norton gave him a peach of ride last time and it is a significant plus that the deceptively strong Liverpudlian throws what weight he has behind the challenge of Fiddlers Creek again today.
