        Verdict

        First Byte gets the nod over Paris Power, with Chalice Welcome and Genoa Star likely to make their presence felt as well in this poor contest. First Byte opened her account over six furlongs at Yarmouth in June, and it has to be said that she has not reproduced anything like that form since, but she is well treated compared to her Turf rating and is a tentative selection. Paris Power had Genoa Star behind when dead-heating for second at Southwell last time and should maintain that form at least. Chalice Welcome improved markedly when chasing home My Reflection over six furlongs here last time and will be suited by this extra furlong, so will have some support as well. The market should be noted as regards the rest, but in a race in which bets should be kept to the bare minimum, it is First Byte that is the pick.
