Gardasee is recommended in preference to Dan's Heir and Calfraz. Tom Tate has made no secret of the high regard he holds Gardasee and he was fully entitled to take his chance in a much better race at Chepstow. Proven on the surface and from a yard in reasonable form, he appears most solid of these on the book. Pat Haslam's team have been in fine form of late and his record in juvenile races is second to none. Dan's Heir is a likeable individual who stays this trip well. We would want to see just a little more aptitude for soft ground before backing him but the market shall give us plenty of food for thought. Calfraz will not be priced at 100/1 as he was when winning at Kelso. Micky Hammond's team were in the doldrums for quite a few seasons but his string appear to be performing much better this season. Lankawi had to give away a winners penalty last time out to Calfraz and is likely to be given the front-running role today. Eborarry is proven on the surface having scored in a weak race at Sedgefield last December. Daldini was thought of as smart enough to enter for Redcar's Two-Year-Old Trophy. He did win a small race on the flat on heavy going but we have seen all too often how difficult it is to equate summer ground with that in the winter game. John Forbes was tried over hurdles during the Summer. He has had a recent pipeopener on the flat. Gardasee gets the nod.
