Verdict

Pick of the bunch here looks to be JESSE JAMES, who is taken to land division two of this maiden at the main expense of Doc Jones. John Gosden's colt reappeared to good effect when just touched off by Legislate over a mile at Lingfield last month. The drop back to this trip is unlikely to be a problem and a reproduction of that recent run, or better, should prove to be good enough. Doc Jones hails from the in-form David Evans yard and reappears here after an 11 month absence following a staying-on second of six at Windsor. That time off can prove invaluable from hereon in and with the step up in trip a plus we expect to see him go very well. Jeremy Noseda has just been a little bit quiet of late, which does not inspire confidence in the chances of Leahurst. However, the gelding is related to winners and even if unsuccessful today there are surely races to be won when stepped up to a mile. Flute Magic tries the Polytrack for the first time and has put together some solid efforts in defeat so far, while Badiat Alzaman represents a yard going well and is likely to be able to improve on three resonable efforts last year. An interesting contest then and Jesse James can win the shootout.
