Verdict
Not a great race by any stretch of the imagination but General holds the highest BHB mark and he should atone for Saxe Coburg and Gallant Boy. Formerly trained by Deena Smith, General has had a fairly consistent record since transferring onto the all-weather with one win and three places from six starts. He was slightly disappointing on his last start in non-selling grade but this is his level and he is a difficult customer to beat on a going day. Saxe Coburg has had training troubles but invariably pops up at big odds from time-to-time. He has some ability but Gerard Ham's representative is yet to win at this circuit. Gallant Boy has to be respected for all-weather king David Evans. He is rated much lower on artificial surfaces than on the turf and is likely to be given a much more positive ride this afternoon. Relative Hero appears to reserve his best performances for this jockey whereas Danefonique has plenty to prove having flopped on his sole all-weather start. There probably wont be too much action in the sale afterwards but an obvious opportunity for General to take the measure of weaker rivals.
