Verdict

Just eight runners go to post for this maiden in which Forever Phoenix looks to have a good chance of beating Best Before and Jarraaf. Formerly with James Fanshawe, Forever Phoenix was runner up in a very good maiden at Beverley won by Mark Johnston¿s Penny Cross with the rest of the field well beaten. She was a major disappointment next time at Newmarket but that can't have been her true running. If she handles this surface today she can lose her maiden tag. Best Before has had plenty of chances and almost won a decent enough race at Redcar when just touched off by Will He Wish. He hasn't run up to that standard in two subsequent outings but should be in the firing line if running his race. When looking for horse with course experience Jarraaf catches the eye having run a gallant second in a handicap over this trip back in October, a repeat of that running will make him hard to beat. So a tricky contest but Forever Phoenix could just be too classy her rivals.
