In depth

Verdict

From a shortlist including Galey River, Miss Koen, Imperial Royale and Nocatee, we will opt for Galey River. Galey River caught the eye when staying on late when stepped up to this type of trip for the first time last time on Lingfield's Polytrack and is taken to confirm that view in a modest heat. Ambersong has a chance on January form, while Irish raider Pretty Flamingo has hasn't really set the world alight yet, but watch the betting. Private Seal is often placed and has such claims again. Miss Koen has solid claims based on her spring form on the Polytrack and she must be considered. The best of The Fairy Flag's Turf form would be more than good enough to play a part here and Imperial Royale certainly caught the eye late on here last time and steps up in trip today. Nocatee comes here in good heart and is another that should play a leading part, not least because the cheekpieces are on - which he seems to enjoy - while Barabella was another to make late headway last time and is stepping up in trip. Overall, though, with a good rider booked, we are happy to side with Galey River.
