Velocitas has been consistent enough to warrant support ahead of Man The Gate, Theatre Tinka and Iftikhar. Velocitas is still a maiden but has adapted well to this surface, having turned out here on his last three starts. The step up to a mile and a half saw him finish third to Mr Midasman 10 days ago when once again his lack of a gear was evident. He really needs a stronger pace but in today's company that might not matter so much and we shall nominate him to come good. Man The Gate left the money in the bookies' satchels at Folkestone on his last start but that was three months ago, while Theatre Tinka did not get the best of luck in running here on his last visit. Iftikhar went close over the course and distance last time and a similar run would put him in the frame, but Velocitas is taken to open his account.
