In depth

MOOTASADIR was mightily-impressive when running down the odds-on Commander Han, who had won his previous race easily, at Chelmsford and connections hold him in high regard so he should go on to better things. Well Suited had made a very promising debut at Windsor last summer and was returning from a very long break when battling on to hold off Capla Jaipur at Chelmsford last month. Further progress looks likely and there's more to come while Starcaster showed plenty of ability in maidens on ground with some give in the autumn. Jeremy Noseda's $100,000 yearling Laughing Stranger, a Derby entry whose dam has produced winners with her first two foals, is one to note for the future.

Mootasadir 4-1 (9-2) Dwelt, behind, headway over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, went 2nd inside final furlong, kept on to lead towards finish, won at Chelmsford City 1m stks (5) pol in Apr beating Commander Han (9-9) by 3/4l, 6 ran.

Well Suited (IRE) 3-1 (9-2) Tracked leader, ridden over 2f out, led over 1f out, just held on, won at Chelmsford City 1m stks (5) pol in Mar beating Capla Jaipur (9-2) by hd, 8 ran.

Dawn Commando 66-1 (9-5) Raced towards rear side, chased leaders, weakened 3f out, 13th of 15, 29 1/4l behind Raymond Tusk (9-5) at Newbury 1m mdn stks (4) gs in Apr.

Laughing Stranger (USA) Medaglia D'oro colt out of Laughing Lashes.

Starcaster 9-2 (9-2) Took keen hold steadied to rear, headway on inner 3f out, not clear run from over 2f out, switched left just inside final furlong, ridden and ran on, 3rd of 6, 1 1/2l behind Istanbul Sultan (9-2) at Goodwood 1m 1f stks (4) sft in Oct.
