Verdict
History Boy and Elizabeth Street have both shown respectable form and cannot easily be discounted in this maiden but there are some well bred newcomers on show here and preference among them is for Gyroscope, who gets the vote ahead of Caernarvon. The last mentioned is a son of 2,000 Guineas winner King's Best trained by Michael Jarvis and could be of interest on his debut, especially with the yard's horses continuing in good form. The absence of Philip Robinson from the saddle suggests that he may not be one of the yard's best youngsters though and he may be best watched. Godolphin have done well with their juveniles this term so Calabash Cove would have to be respected as would Marcus Tregoning's Halling colt Barkass, although he may do better over further next term. Henry Cecil's Phoenix Tower is another well related colt and could be good enough but marginal preference is for Sir Michael Stoute's Gyroscope, who has a suitable pedigree for this trip and could hardly be better drawn than in stall two.
