Verdict

With the Nigel-Twiston Davies team in fair form, Champagne Harry is taken to repel Brooklands Lad, with The Dark Lord worth a mention as well. Champagne Harry carries a penalty but there was a lot to like about his Hereford success at 25-1 over the much more fancied pair of Court Shareef and Maldoun. The in-form Majority Verdict and the soft ground conspired to beat him at Uttoxeter last time, but conditions are much more in his favour now and he can get back to winning ways at the expense of Brooklands Lad. Seamus Mullins' charge was made to try and dictate against Cornish Gale at Wincanton, tactics that patently did not work, and it is pretty certain that he will be held up this time. He looks booked for second ahead of The Dark Lord who is learning his trade still, but who can be expected to run better than when left behind by Immola in desperate ground at Sandown in March.
