Verdict
A trappy event really with Winslow Boy, Heartbeat, Cunning Pursuit and Royal Upstart forming our shortlist, with the selection being Winslow Boy. The selection disappointed on his last run but, the time before that, he finished a very good fourth behind Prairie Sun at Beverley, staying on when the race was all over. Ceasar, who finished third that day, runs earlier on today's card. From a two-pound lower mark today, a repeat to that level of performance should see our selection go well. To be perfectly honest, it is hard to make a compelling case for a number of his opponents, but Heartbeat is one that could go well. Much as he was disappointing at Leicester last time, he had seemed to appreciate the step up to 10 furlongs the time before when fifth to Daggers Canyon at Ripon. First-time blinkers have been fitted today for this further step up in trip and, racing from a palter's mark, he must surely make his presence felt in this modest affair. Princess Ismene did not seem to take to today's trip last time but Cunning Pursuit, who has never raced beyond a mile, could be interesting with Kevin Darley booked to ride. With Royal Upstart having appeared best so far on the all-weather, there are very few that we can get excited about in this race, but chief among these is Winslow Boy, who gets our vote.
