In depth
Verdict
A very modest event in which Lord Lahar, Bows and Ribbons, Who Cares Wins and Annakita are among the more likely suitors. Mick Channon's charge gets the nod having been seen staying on stoutly over twelve furlongs at Wolverhampton last week. With doubts about the others, backers can at least have the knowledge that the horse is fit enough to do himself justice. Ribbons and Bows was campaigned at listed level a couple of seasons ago. Fifth over 1m3f at Warwick in non-banded grade, the fact that Ian Mongan and a first-time visor accompany him looks highly significant. Who Cares Wins makes a return after a long absence from the flat. He has been busy hurdling since his last race at Lingfield and this race is hardly the strongest by any stretch of the imagination. Annakita goes well for Lisa Jones and is a winner here over two miles. She appears to handle any surface. Banningham Blaze looks best of the rest. A difficult contest to close on and Lord Lahar tentatively secures the verdict.
