Verdict
With experience being so thin on the ground, it can pay to take a chance with SHAARIDH - a well-bred newcomer from a top yard. Mezenah is an obvious alternative and is respected, while Hometown is from a stable whose runners usually improve for an outing; so the daughter of Storming Home is worth monitoring closely in the betting. Hometown wasn't given a hard time on her debut at Kempton last month and the switch to turf can help her make more progress in her learning process. Mezenah reportedly lacks size and scope so her owners (Godolphin) will be hoping she makes an impact sooner rather than later. However, she did very little wrong on her debut at Leicester a fortnight ago, so she should be a lot wiser this time around. Nevertheless, Shaaridh could have been found a perfect starting point for her racing career. The daughter of Dixieland Band has a number of options over the course of this week and, considering Mark Johnston is sure to have meticulously scrutinised the entries, it must be considered significant the Scotsman has opted to come to Yarmouth today.
